"Shipwrecked" Book Report Diorama

My oldest  daughter Allison and I built this diorama as part of a seventh grade school project in March 2006.  The scene from the book depicted shows a sailing ship in the throes of a terrible storm shortly before it is capsized.  Unfortunately, our Plexiglas backdrop snapped, leaving a seam in the back, but otherwise it turned out nice.  We used aluminum foil to form the water and then treated it to many coats of fiberglass resin mixed with blue paint.  The water was then treated to a flat white drybrush job.  The sky was made of cotton balls.  We skipped the rigging on the ship, which was probably beyond the skills of a novice modeler.
