 Norman C. Witte

Norman C. Witte established his solo practice of law in Lansing, Michigan in 1995. His primary areas of practice are bankruptcy, telecommunications law and commercial litigation.

Mr. Witte graduated in 1984 with a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from James Madison College at Michigan State University.  Mr. Witte graduated cum laude from Wayne State University Law School in 1987.

Mr. Witte formerly clerked for Hon. Jo Ann C. Stevenson, United States Bankruptcy Judge, Western District of Michigan.  Prior to his clerkship with Judge Stevenson, Mr. Witte was an associate with Loomis, Ewert, Parsley, Davis & Gotting, PC.

Joy L. Witte

Joy L. Witte practices in the areas of general litigation, landlord/tenant relations  and workers compensation.  Ms. Witte graduated from Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan with a Bachelor of Arts in English in 1981.  She obtained her law degree from Wayne State University in 1985.

Ms. Witte formerly served as a Worker's Compensation Appellate Commissioner for the state of Michigan.   She held this gubernatorial appointment from 1993 to 2003.  Prior to her service on the Appellate Commission, she practiced at the firms of Plunkett Cooney, PC and Rhoades McKee, PC.  She currently serves on the Board of Hidden Treasures Thrift Store.

 Matthew G. Davis

Matthew G. Davis practices in the areas of appellate law, civil rights (including alleged violations of the First and Second Amendments), election law, campaign finance, and defamation. Mr. Davis is also experienced in general civil litigation.

Mr. Davis graduated from the The Ohio State University with a bachelors of arts in journalism in 1990 and earned his juris doctorate from Thomas M. Cooley Law School in 2005.  He started his legal career in the pre-hearing division of the Michigan Court of Appeals before becoming law clerk for Judge Brian K. Zahra.  Following his clerkship, Mr. Davis joined Witte Law Offices as an associate.

Prior to his legal career, Mr. Davis spent approximately twelve years as a reporter for various daily newspapers, including the Columbus ( Ohio ) Dispatch, the St. Paul (Minn. ) Pioneer Press, and the Detroit Free Press, where he covered the state Legislature in Lansing.  Mr. Davis left newspapers to attend the Thomas M. Cooley Law School and, concomitantly, serve as director of communications for the Michigan Department of Corrections and the Michigan Department of Attorney General. Mr. Davis led the creation and development of the Offender Tracking Information System at the MDOC, which allows Internet access of offender information.

Mr. Davis resides in Williamston with his wife and three children.

Matthew J. Stephens

Matt Stephens joined the firm as an attorney in 2010.   Matt is a May 2010 graduate of the  Michigan State University College of Law.  He earned his undergraduate degree in Philosophy from the University of Michigan with highest honors in 2007. 

 Mr. Stephens and his wife have two children and reside in Okemos, Michigan.

Gary L. Field

Gary L. Field practices in the area of telecommunications regulatory law, representing numerous competitive local exchange carriers in the Michigan Public Service Commission and in state and federal courts.  Mr. Field is also an accomplished appellate attorney.

Mr. Field obtained his Baccalaureate of Arts from Andrews University in 1974, graduating with Academic Distinction and High Honors.  He attended the University of Illinois College of Law, graduating magna cum laude in 1984; he also earned the distinction of the Order of the Coif.

Mr. Field formerly clerked for Chief Judge Robert J. Danhof, Michigan Court of Appeals.  Mr. Field is the principal of Field Law Group, PLLC.  Field Law Group and the Witte Law Offices work cooperatively on many matters.  Prior to forming Field Law Group in 2005, Mr. Field was a partner at Loomis, Ewert, Parsley, Davis & Gotting, PC.

Mr. Field has served as a member of the State Bar Committee on Appellate Court Administration as well as the Executive Council of Appellate Practice Section of the State Bar.  Mr. Field is a co-founder of the Appellate Practice Section of the Michigan State Bar.

Margaret A. Meyers

 Margaret A. Meyers is employed in the Office of Legal Affairs at the Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA) as a staff attorney, where she primarily handles multi-family loan transactions involving regulated housing. Ms. Meyers also practices real estate and general business law privately.  Previously to joining MSHDA, she practiced law for ten years with Loomis, Ewert, Parsley, Davis & Gotting, PC, in Lansing, Michigan, specializing in residential/commercial real estate and general business law.

Margaret A. Meyers graduated from  Michigan State University in 1979 with a B.A. in Humanities (Pre-Law), and obtained her J.D. from Thomas M. Cooley Law School in 1983. 

Ms. Meyers is a member of the State Bar of Michigan and the Zonta Club of East Lansing Area, of which she is a past president.  She served for many years on the boards of the Lansing Metropolitan YMCA and her neighborhood condominium association board, and acts as a mediator of disputes between buyers and sellers for the Greater Lansing Association of Realtors.

Gary A. Gensch

Gary A. Gensch, Jr. practices in the areas of telecommunications and energy regulatory law, representing clients’ regulatory needs in the Michigan Public Service Commission and in state and federal courts.

Mr. Gensch graduated in 1997 from Western Michigan University with a Bachelor of Arts in English.  He obtained his juris doctorate from Thomas M. Cooley Law School, graduating summa cum laude in January of 2004.

 While in law school, Mr. Gensch worked as a law clerk for the firm Loomis, Ewert, Parsley, Davis & Gotting, P.C. in Lansing, Michigan.  Immediately following graduation, Mr. Gensch was hired as an associate in the public utility section of the firm, where he remained until joining Field Law Group, PLLC  in July 2005.
